Can You Use Battle.net Balance for a WoW Subscription?
Short answer: No.
Battle.net Balance cannot be used to pay for a WoW subscription. This is a platform-level restriction enforced by Blizzard on all accounts and in all regions — it cannot be bypassed. If you arrived here looking for a way to pay for WoW game time, the options are explained below.
Battle.net Balance is Blizzard's official in-account currency — and it covers an enormous range of purchases in the Battle.net Shop. The subscription restriction is the only significant exception. This guide explains exactly what Balance can and cannot be used for, and what the alternatives are for WoW game time.
Why Battle.net Balance Doesn't Work for WoW Subscriptions
Blizzard made a deliberate platform decision to exclude Balance from the recurring subscription payment flow. The subscription checkout page only accepts conventional payment methods (credit cards, PayPal, and direct billing) and does not offer Balance as an option.
This applies to every Battle.net account in every region — EU, Americas, and Asia. It is not a regional limitation, not a bug, and not something that differs by account type. It has been this way since Battle.net Balance was introduced and reflects Blizzard's deliberate separation of subscription billing from in-account store credit.
In practical terms: even if your account holds a full Balance sufficient to cover months of subscription, the subscription page will not accept it.
What Battle.net Balance Can Be Used For
Outside of recurring subscriptions, Battle.net Balance works for virtually everything in the official Blizzard Shop. Here is a complete breakdown:

RaidLine tops up Balance directly on your account via three official methods: Remote Access (recommended, no credentials, 2–3 min), Gift to Friend (1–2 min, not all currencies), or Account Access (1–2 min). How to Pay for WoW Game Time Without a Subscription
If you want to access World of Warcraft without setting up a recurring payment, there are two distinct routes — neither of which requires Battle.net Balance.
A Battle.net Time Card is an official Blizzard-issued digital code that adds a fixed period of subscription access to WoW — no recurring billing, no auto-renewal. You redeem the code in Battle.net Account Management and play until the time runs out. RaidLine sells Time Cards for all regions (EU, Americas, Asia) and delivers the code by email.
Time Cards do not require Battle.net Balance — they are a completely separate product redeemed via a code.
WoW players who accumulate gold in-game can purchase a WoW Token from the Auction House for gold, then redeem it for either 30 days of game time or a fixed amount of Battle.net Balance. This route does not involve RaidLine — it is handled entirely within the game. In some regions, a Token can also be purchased directly from the Battle.net Shop using Balance and then redeemed for game time; availability varies by region.
RaidLine sells WoW Subscription access for EU, Americas, and Asia accounts — a rolling monthly subscription granting access to all current WoW versions (Retail, Classic Era, Hardcore, Cataclysm Classic). Unlike Time Cards, the subscription continues automatically each month until cancelled from Battle.net Account Management.
This is a separate product from Balance and Time Cards. Delivery is handled by a RaidLine manager via account access.
